We all want to feel connected to something greater. Whatever name we call her, Divine, Goddess, Mystery. A divine power speaks to you every night in your dreams. And you can learn to listen, even if you feel you don’t dream at all. Dreams know more about us and the world than we do. If we listen, our lives can be guided by these visions.
I have felt the divine in the movements and gestures of the desert, ocean, stream, dolphin, antelope, and dragonfly. As a guide, writer, and activist, I help people connect to themselves and the world. Listening to dreams is one important aspect. I also guide people in deepening their relationship with nature and discovering their souls’ purpose.
Helping people connect to nature is my life. Without this connection, we lose ourselves and cause damage. Our health and the wellness of the planet are linked. The destruction we see happening to nature comes in part from disconnection. I’ve fasted alone in nature for three days and nights, longing to reconnect and listen to what the trees, mountains, rivers, and animals say. I lead others in these kinds of ceremonies.
Dreams and nature are connected. The goal isn’t to interpret dreams. We approach them by listening to them like we do wild landscapes. We listen for what the dream images, places, and characters want us to experience.
There are many things to be curious about. Who is visiting? What is happening? What do the others in the dream feel or want? Listening is key. We listen by returning to dreams in our waking imagination and allowing the imagery to affect us.
Public speaking is a potent way to influence the world by inspiring people to see themselves and the world differently. Please share my talk with others if it moves you.

Animas Valley Institute Program in Northern California
Courting the Muse-Beloved
Redwood Country on the Smith River, Northern California
May 30 – June 3, 2024, with Rebecca Wildbear
The natural world is a mysterious and alluring love dance. Opening our hearts allows us to fall in love with anything—an idea, the ocean, a human, or a tree. We may turn our entire world upside down and be plunged into both ecstasy and devastation. In this rocky place, we are made profoundly vulnerable, sometimes shaken to our core, and we begin to see glimmers and hear rumblings of a greater story. We begin to ask deeper questions about who we are in our depths, bringing our attention to something newly emerging and awakening our deepest creativity.
